THE KAROO & OUDTSHOORN |
 Known as "The Feather Capital of the
World" because of the flourishing ostrich industry. Oudtshoorn’s attractions
include three show farms: Highgate, Safari and Cango. Palatial home known as
feather palaces which sprang up during the boom years are a distinctive feature of the
town. One section of the CP Nel Museum concentrates on the history of the ostrich. Cango
Wildlife ranch, on the road to the Cango Caves, is open daily from 0800. Over 300
crocodiles ranging from 50 cm to four metres in length, inhabit the ranch. |
